NATURAL PARKS And RESERVES Maremma, its name derives from sea and mud, and is this which must have seen the first colonizzatori of this earth; a crystalline sea, sand and marshes. Follonica until years ' 50 was encircled from swamps (Orti-Bottagone to North and Padule di Scarlino to South), was not rare to see to little meters from the road herds of bufali dipped in the marshes; in '60 years the economic boom has carried, also in this country, the industries and with they the marsh has slowly gone to withdraw itself. Instituted in 1998 the Park is situated between the
river basins of the Cornia river (to North) and of the Pecora river (to
South) and is constituted mostly from boscate hills of low altitude (308
the maximum height m. Poggio al Chiecco). It has an extension of 7000
hectares and includes a reserve natural integral ( Hill Three
Cancels ), instituted with D.M. in 1971, and situated in the Common
of Follonica. The territory is characterized from the presence of
historical-artistic testimonies:
Instituted in 1977 (Office of Follonica - 0566 40019) is managed from the Forestry Corps it is an area protect on generis in how much a part of it (approximately 11 hectares on the 55 totals) it is found to the inside of the City of Follonica and comprises two parks publics (pineta of Placing Levant and pineta of). Instituted in 1996 for preservare one goal of national relief like the Cornate. Draft of a massive montuoso (1086 m.) constituted from a limestone cliff complex to strapiombo, the prateria that surpasses it is one zone of great geologic, faunistico and floristico interest. On the senese depositor the Castle of Fosini is found while on that grossetano ancient hollow of Red Ammonitico used already in the Middle Ages for the paving of the Dome of Siena. The Cornate is considered, for the insufficient luminous pollution, one of the best emplacements for the nocturnal observation of the stars.

respect. It is not possible to disembark on the island that is uninhabited,
to exception of the forest guards used after the prevention and control;
the visit is closely classified for fine scientific and in some didactic
cases us. It is a massive granitic in means to the Tyrrhenian Sea, in
beautiful days on seaside of Follonica intrevede its profile between the
